![]() It is something of a disappointment that we've learned the identity of the new Black Panther in this trailer. Unless Wakanda Forever sees multiple characters don the superhero suit, though, it appears as if Shuri will be the new Black Panther. Speculation over Shuri's new role came after reports in late 2021 suggest that Winston Duke's M'Baku would be T'Challa's actual successor. And, with toy leaks over the weekend (October 1 and 2) suggesting that Shuri would Wakanda's new hero, it seems Marvel wasn't going to wait until the film's release to hold back this surprise. There had been rumors that Shuri would follow in T'Challa's footsteps and become the new Black Panther in this MCU Phase 4 project. It's possible that this could be a bait and switch on the studio's part, but we'd be extremely surprised if it is. Black Panther is available to watch now on Disney+.Clearly, Marvel wants to get out ahead of further rumors surrounding the identity of the new Black Panther. Place your bets.īlack Panther: Wakanda Forever is released in cinemas on November 11. Whoever takes on the honour of being the next Black Panther, they're sure to be flexing their muscles on a supposed New Avengers lineup that could include everyone from Spider-Man to Captain Marvel. Although it looks unlikely that the heroic Nakia will break bad, we've see it happen with Chiwetel Ejiofor's Baron Mordo. This would be a major departure from the comics where Nakia becomes the villainous character known as Malice. Similar to Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie being the king of New Asgard, Nakia also has the political prowess to lead Wakanda into a new era. ![]() Similar to Okoye, we've seen Nakia is handy in a fight, but more than the former, her ties to T'Challa because of their romance would make for a heart-warming twist. ![]() The theorists think the shot actually comes from the very end of the movie – with Nakia ready to take on the name of Black Panther full-time. ![]() In the Wakanda Forever trailer, we see Nakia wistfully looking out into the ocean and seemingly mourning T'Challa's death. Because she sat out from the likes of Infinity War and Endgame, the last we saw of Nakia was when she helped T'Challa open Wakanda to the world. Someone who has been quietly watching from the sidelines is Lupita Nyong'o's Nakia. ![]()
